The Shift
We are in the midst of a major shift in human understanding and human consciousness. Just before
a shift happens, we experience the chaos of the old order crumbling. We are experiencing large scale
trade deficits, job losses, wars, home foreclosures, plummeting retirement investments, lack of confidence in elected leaders
and general uncertainties about the future. Problems with unavailability of health care for millions of
people add to the uneasiness. We are standing at the edge of a cliff.
All of the situations listed above are creations of the collective human ego. Our embrace of greed
and selfishness, together with class, race, gender and religious divisiveness, has led us here. The ego
got us into this mess, so it would be folly to expect the ego to get us out.
We are forced to look at another part of ourselves for the solution. We must attend to the spirit,
that Divine part of ourselves that we have ignored for so long. Spirit is about connectedness, which contrasts
with human ego’s emphasis on division and separation; better than and less than; my people and your people; my country
versus yours. Aligning with spirit (the Holy Spirit, God, our highest and best selves) involves looking
through a different lens. The spirit lens sees wholeness and unity. It acknowledges
the gifts that everyone brings into the world. The clarity of that lens allows us to move beyond respect
to love for all God’s creations. Love heals, lifts and transforms
us. It leads us back to sanity and awareness. Welcome the shift. Love
and light, Pat Churchill
