LEAP FORWARD What do you do when the next step on your journey seems too painful
to take? What if the path ahead looks murky and you can't see your hand in front of your face? Don't take
that next step. Leap forward!
Your leap propels you into the air, above the illusion of darkness. It shows you possibilities that lie beyond your
current vantage point. It sets you on a different path, in unfamiliar terrain.
Faced with the idea of leaping, humans often cringe in fear. If
you can't foresee where you're leaping, who knows where you'll land? You may plummet into a deep hole.
You may be worse off than you were on that dark, familiar path. Such are the error thoughts offered by the ego.
The ego seeks to bind
you in your present state of habit and pain. It is terrified of leaps of faith, which it cannot manage or control.
When you identify totally with the ego, you are locked into step by step progression. You cannot comprehend how your
friend, who appeared to be in the same boat with you, could suddenly break free.
"How did she do that?" you ask. She
decided, "I'm out of here." She is moving on to a new career, a friendlier neighborhood, a different church,
a healthier diet. Perhaps your friend has decided to start a business, go back to school or move across the country.
Bessie Coleman, featured on our publications page, was a great example
of leaping forward. As a young person picking cotton in Texas in 1921, Bessie imagined herself flying airplanes.
Amazingly, that's just what she accomplished while in her 20's. She took a leap of faith!
What will you do? Will you take the next painful step or leap forward?
Love and light,
Pat Churchill
